Images and photos

I've been really busy as of late, no time for any in depth review. Why don't you read up on the classics while you're waiting? If you're more of a "visual" person, then visit this link for creative photos by Chema Madoz, as presented by the Haha.nu blog. Link to the official Chema Madoz web page.

And don't forget to drop by the Damn Cool Pics blog.

Now go visit this interesting link from Funpics.hu. If you come across this little critter while you're in the water I would suggest you look into the quality of whatever gas you're breathing alternatively start plotting a course for the nearest hyperbaric chamber.

Stop by Snake's lair for some "funny photo-pictures".

David Bowie on Extras

On a sadder note, the Egyptians (no surprise there) imprisoned a blogger for insulting Islam. In 2001 the Swedish government forcibly returned asylum-seekers Muhammad Muhammad Suleiman Ibrahim El-Zari and Ahmed Hussein Mustafa Kamil Agiza back to these people. We all knew what was going to happen, but the Swedish government didn't seem to care. Think about that the next time you visit Egypt. They put up a nice veneer for the tourists but it has a seedy underbelly.

Yar, the laws of science be a harsh mistress

You know how things sometimes syncs up perfectly at those times you would rather have things moving along at it’s regular, irratic pace? Well, did I have one of those days today...

First, the 06:00 bus has been rescheduled to 05:50 despite no further notification other then a note at the bus stop. However, I had observed and experienced the lack of a 06:00 bus before and at that occasion I wrote down the new time in the bus table I keep in my wallet. Unfortunately, I have yet another bus table next to my alarm clock which I use to set the alarm by. I always set the alarm exactly one hour before the bus leaves, that way it is easy to remember which time it leaves based on the time I got up. As I brushed my teeth I suddenly realised that my bus is going to depart 10 minutes earlier then previously assumed, which resulted in a mad dash to my car and then off to the long term parking. From there I ran to the bus stop and actually got in at time by the thinnest of margins. However, just as the bus was about to roll out a blind man was helped on to the bus. The bus then rolled 20 meters to the nearest ATM as the blind man needed to make a withdrawal. All in all this delayed the bus by 8 minutes, so even if I thought the bus was going to depart at 06:00, I would probably have made it. At that point it seemed rather ironic that I actually remembered that the bus was going to leave earlier. Anyways, as I get to the university I realise that I was in the 10:00 group, not the 08:00 group. I always set my alarm to 1 hour before the departure of the bus I'm going to take, and choose which bus based on when the first lesson starts which today was 08:00. Bummer, if only I would've missed that buss. Not that it made much difference at the time since I could join in on the 08:00 group. However, since I was going to be done at 12:00 if I went on the 10:00, I was planing to go on Pax Nordica, a discussion forum about the Nordic peace and the importance of a strong Swedish military defence. At this time (10:00) that would result in a 3h gap of nothingness, so I just took the 10:07 home. If only I would've forgotten that the bus was going to be early, and somehow got delayed on the way to the bus stop. But then again I would not have written this text if that happened, and you would not have read it. And now you can’t un-read it. My work here is done.

Clarification; of course I do not blame the blind man, that's just preposterous. I'm just presenting the number of strange coincidences which I first thought worked in my favour but apparently turned against me in the end.

Stupidity and hilarity

Here's an update on the Boston Terrorist scare, a spoof if you will. Aqua Teen Hunger Force vs. Jack Bauer of 24 in an epic showdown. By the way, did you know that FOX news (who else) actually complained about the lite-brite sign and called them "disgusting" and "bothersome". Well, why was it bothersome? Because of a population scared shitless by their war-profiteering government.

Stupidity

Well, wouldn't you know it, the blind keeps trying to lead the blind. Link to Expressen.se's article. I wrote once before about the whole "water swirler" fiasco but this time it is a man called Gert Hallengren, a self-proclaimed alternative medicine expert, who picked up the ball and kept running in the designated circle. His "brilliant" idea? To sell water swirlers to schools in Sweden.

His company "Hälsorådet" and "Alternativa hälsokliniken" (owned by his wife) owns "Swed Pharma & Health int.".
Swed Pharma & Health int. is however more or less without any capital and will soon fall into bankruptcy. One might image this to be a problem of sorts, but Hellgren keeps trying to expand his company by seeking those of feeble minds and fat wallets to become "health coaches". These health coaches can then buy a wide variety of nonsense such as "air twirlers", "water twirlers", nutritional supplements and "twirled energy water from Siljansbygden". Whoever falls for this crap deserves to have their money taken from them, call it a twist on Social-Darwinism. Hellgren obviously isn't as stupid as his customers since he refuses to make any comments to the press.

And me without a panic button

The good news; CSN will shortly be paying the first and second installment of my student loans. The bad news; They will only loan me money for 11 weeks. That kind of sucks, considering that the course is 20 weeks long.

Kind of makes me wish I had a panic button, but then again if I did I would probably have to sell it for rent money.

Tempur neck pillow

Progress. Today I can lift my head from my pillow without actually having to lift my head with my hands.

My neck has been acting up during the past two days, which is a nice distraction from the left shoulder which was last weeks main issue. At least I can sleep at night, thanks to my Tempur memory foam pillow.

I started to use one the first time I injured my neck and had to learn to sleep on either my left or right side. A few years later I got the left shoulder dislocated so now I sleep on my right side. It takes a while to get used to these pillows, but if you've got some neck/shoulder issue it is definitely worth it.

Hi-Vis Watchery

The U-BOAT Flightdeck 55 CAB is one seriously good looking watch. Normally I'm kind of allergic against big numbers on a dial, but I'm ready to make an exception. Or two.

Unfortunately this one is priced at
EUR 2 300 which is equivalent to
SEK 21 119 which is equivalent to
USD 2 974
(Forex February 05, 2007).

Here's another little number named Flightdeck 50 CAB, which only sets you back
EUR 2 100
which is equivalent to
SEK 19 283
which is equivalent to
USD 2 716
(Forex February 05, 2007).

On a related side note, I'm starting a "U-BOAT watch for Fluffy" fundraiser, feel free to contribute.

If you're looking for something a bit more traditional, have a look at the Longines Clous de Paris Chronograph. Stunning...

Err and Ignignokt makes Americans quake in their boots

This is so stupid. Apparently some strategically placed lite brite promo-art for the upcoming Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie cause a major terrorist scare in the Boston area.
